Applications are invited from composers for the Hephzibah Tintner Fellowship. Composers will be invited to apply in 2011 for a program of study and observation in 2012 that may progress to the composition of a work for performance in 2013. Candidates must show potential to create compositions for major performing arts companies in Sydney and Australia.
Training will consist of a program of mentorship and work with the Sydney Dance Company, the Australian Ballet, Opera Australia and Sydney Symphony. Individual projects are to be negotiated separately with each company together with the successful applicant. Candidates are encouraged to submit their own suggestions for additional creative development opportunities in the application.
Applicants must be Australian citizens or permanent residents and aged between 17 and 38. Preference will be given to applicants who have a strong connection with Sydney.
Six copies of a mandatory 30 minute CD of the applicant's compositions, in a range of styles, should support the application. Scores should be provided, where available.
